Jesus knew the reason for his coming into the world because he spoke of his purpose for coming throughout his ministry.
Matt 20:28
28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. KJV
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. NKJV
Jesus carried his obedience to the extreme of death to prove his love for the father. His love and obedience was tested to the max at the cross because that is where he would experience something he had never experienced throughout eternity past; separation from the father.
Luke 22:40-46
40 When He came to the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."
41 And He was withdrawn from them about a stone's throw, and He knelt down and prayed, 42 saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done." 43 Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him. 44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
45 When He rose up from prayer, and had come to His disciples, He found them sleeping from sorrow. 46 Then He said to them, "Why do you sleep? Rise and pray, lest you enter into temptation." NKJV
John 14:31
31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here. NKJV
